We want to create an active solidarity community with the people from Central America: therefore\, we actively support the struggle for social justice\, self-determination\, and human rights. We prioritize collaborating directly with political and popular movements. For the past 40 years\, we have worked with farmers’ movements\, trade unions\, women’s organizations\, and youth organizations\, all working to strengthen the social and political conditions of the poor majority.\nWe are largely run by groups of dedicated volunteers\, who are committed to making a change and helping others in Central America who are forced to live under corruption and injustice.

SUMMARY:5-års dagen for protesterne i Nicaragua
DESCRIPTION:Den 19. april 2023 markerer 5-årsdagen for det folkelige oprør i Nicaragua\, hvor modige studerende gik forrest i kampen for demokrati og retfærdighed\nVær med til at mindes ofrene og støt kampen for fred\, demokrati og retfærdighed i Nicaragua.\nVi markerer dagen sammen med nicaraguanere rundt omkring i hele verden.\nDer kommer live musik\, taler\, og lækker mad lavet af frivillige som kan købes mod donation til indsamlingen for de deporterede politiske fanger og deres familier\, og til de politiske fanger som stadig sidder fængslet i Nicaragua.\n\nVi starter i Folkets Park til markering af dagen hvorefter vi trækker indenfor i Folkets Hus.\n\n(Programmet opdateres løbende)\n\n—–baggrund——\nDemokratiet og civilsamfundets råderum har i de seneste år været under ekstremt pres i Nicaragua.\nSiden de sociale protester med de studerende i spidsen for alvor brød ud i april 2018\, er mere end 355 mennesker blevet dræbt.\nProtesterne er blevet mødt med brutal vold og politisk forfølgelse fra Daniel Ortega og Rosario Murillo’s styre.\nFlere tusinde er blevet såret og fængslet\, 150.000 nicaraguanere er flygtet ud af landet\, og mere end 3200 nicaraguanske og internationale civilsamfundsorganisationer er blevet lukket eller smidt ud af landet som følge af en række lovændringer som både strider mod landet egen konstitution og menneske rettigheder.\nArrangementet er offentligt\, gratis og vil foregå på dansk og spansk.\n\nNicaraguanetværket går på tværs af privat personer\, Verdens Skove\, Mellemamerika Komiteen\, Enhedslistens Nicaraguagruppe\, Núnca Más\, Alianza Cívica Danesa-Nicaragüense og International Børnesolidaritet.
